Lubaczów is a small town of little over ten thousand people, located in Podkarpackie voivodship – hospitable to everyone, with captivating natural landscapes, and peaceful atmosphere. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and picturesque spots in the region. A perfect place for those who seek tranquility.
In the heart of the town lies reconstructed Town Square, along with the Town Hall – the most characteristic building in the vicinity. The Town Square holds many special events throughout the year.
Local Borderlands Museum is the perfect place to become familiar with rich history of Lubaczów, which dates back to the 12th century. The Museum is also extremely interesting itself, since it is located in the granary from 19th century.
Lubaczów prides itself with valuable cultural heritage – there are a few hundred historical monuments in the town. In the past, there was a mix of three peacefully coexisting cultures: Jewish, Ukrainian, and Polish, which left its heritage as well. Jewish cemetery – the most interesting one in Poland – consisting of approximately 150 richly decorated stone matzevahs, which date back to 18th century, is a great place to visit in order to personally feel said heritage.
It is absolutely recommended to visit Blessed Jakub Strzemię Church while in Lubaczów. The main altar holds a copy of Miraculous Painting of Our Lady of Grace from 1598. Before this very painting, Jan Kazimierz made a solemn vow, establishing the Holy Mother as Queen of the Polish Crown.
Lubaczów was visited by the Pope John Paul II in 1991. This event made Lubaczów a Papal Town. Currently, in order to maintain the living monument of the Polish Pope in the town, „Santo-Subito” concerts take place here regularly.
In recent years, Lubaczów has been developing rapidly. There is a digital cinema with one of the most impressive concert halls. The commissioning of the modern Municipal Cultural Centre took place in 2020. In the Town Centre, one can certainly feel the spirit of development. There are still perfect conditions for the development of the micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises. Lubaczów is a town of great perspectives and possibilities, not limited by its past. It captivates visitors with its beauty and personality. We encourage everyone to take the journey along picturesque crossroads, and taste the unforgettable flavors of the Borderland.
